Thai Tok Sen Massage
Thai Tok Sen Massage
Tok Sen Massage is an ancient Thai therapy which is an incredibly soothing massage treatment and very effective at promoting a sense of calm.
It is a very rare massage technique to learn and is steeped in ancient ideology. It uses a wooden hammer and wedge/chisel/peg to tap out negative energy from the body.
Traditionally only wood from special trees that been struck down by lightening would be used to carve the instruments. These days the tools are crafted by Hill tribes people and blessed using an old ritual technique.
The Treatment
Tok Sen is based on the belief that every individual has energy flowing through them. This is often referred to as ‘life energy’ or ‘Lom’. This energy works in perfect harmony with the body, ensuring that all systems of the body work together, resulting in a person that is happy and healthy.
A special wood hammer and wedge are employed, and following specific points of the body, a rhythmic tapping is set up which creates a resonance that passes through the muscles and into the rest of the body and are also used to stimulate acupressure points on the body’s energy lines.
Tok Sen can be performed either directly on the skin, or above thin clothing. This traditionally a dry massage technique so no oils are used whilst performing this massage.
